I came with my boyfriend for the weekend, so we could jump on the motorcycle and ride The Tail of the Dragon. Originally I was booked in a 1 bedroom apartment. The pictures were kind of sketchy, but on short notice we took it because everything else that was available everywhere had bunk beds. When we checked in, the gentleman at the desk was super friendly, and even offered some suggestions on places to eat in the area. We made it to the apartment and the bedroom had bunk beds and a regular bed. So we would have been able to sleep together and still have a place to put our luggage and such with the other beds in the room. It was small with a sofa and a dining table. But it had a kitchen area and a TV, so we would have been fine with it. It was clean. But as soon as I got in there and set some things down, the gentleman came over to me and said he was giving us a free upgrade to a house. His reasoning was that the yard people had not been to the property yet and that the area right next to the apartment made it look bad. So we moved over to a small 3 bedroom house! It was spotless and cozy. It was so nice to be able to put our things in another bedroom so they didn't clutter up the room we slept in, or take up any room. And since we did not ride the Tail after dark, it was great to come back to the house, get comfy, and lay on the couches watching TV. We REALLY enjoyed our stay at Phillips Historic Motel & Cottages, and when we come back (because we WILL be coming back), I will most likely try to book the same house again! I am attaching pictures but some are fuzzy because I screen captured them from a walk-through video I took.

We are staying over night. The gentleman that checked us was a pleasure to speak with. He pointed us in the direction of some restaurants for dinner and breakfast. The room was clean and very spacious. If we are in the area again for a weekend trip. We will definitely stay here again.

This was the dirtiest and filthiest hotel I have ever been to in the 52 countries I have visited. The bed linens and bath towels are not changed between guests. There are many strands of hair of all lengths, colors and types on the sheets and pillows. The amount of dust on the furniture, carpet and ceiling fan is months or maybe years old. I had walked the "Tail of the Dragon" and was very tired. I had to look for another hotel when night fell. Fortunately, the city of Andrews has good accommodations. I DO NOT recommend staying at this hotel. You could get skin, lung or genital problems (gonorrhea).

My boyfriend and I decided to go to a convention held near the Tail of the Dragon. Quality Inn gave our reservation away and overbooked leaving us stranded during a natural disaster. Luckily, Phillip’s Motel had a room available and was able to help us right away. The room was a bit old and outdated, but they did their best to keep the outside and inside area clean and well kept. The office manager gave us recommendations on food places and was a very great help to us. We will definitely stay here in the future when coming back to the area.

We have stayed there a few times before and it’s always been a great trip. Bill is the ultimate host we had some trailer issues on the way up and when we got there I realized that I didn’t have the correct size Allen wrench with me to fix the problem so Bill rooted around and found the right one problem solved. Clean great prices and friendly staff and they were great with our dog we will be back thanx again. One other thing I left my favorite hat there when we left and Bill shipped it back to me ? jt

Look, there's a La Quinamptonity Inn in Robbinsville, and you know exactly what you'll get there, with breakfast. Phillips Historic Motel and Cottage is privately owned, and it was very good. The owner was friendly, my room was clean and small, and my bed was really comfortable. He has a room for motorcycle bags and provides rags for motorcycles, too. The covered parking is for bikes only, as well. Would it be nice to have breakfast included? Of course. However, I love the chance to support a local business and help a guy out who really takes pride in his place.

We are Appalachian Trail hikers. Bill picked us up at Stecoah Gap at no charge! Room was nice and clean. Bill help wash our dirty smelly hiker clothes which was much needed and very much appreciated. If you're a AT hiker or even a biker this is a great place to stay. Thanks for your help Bill.

Awesome place. Clearly a lot of thought and hard work put into the establishment. Rooms felt like home to me. Me and my family came from Brazil to see the tail of the dragon road and the gentleman at the front desk even spoke Portuguese, haha! Overall great place to stay in general. Totally recommend!
