I've stayed at this motel AT LEAST 5 times. We always drive two hours out of the way to come here. I stayed here on my honeymoon for a couple of days as well.
IS IT THE BEST MOTEL IN THE WORLD!?
probably not. But it's just got that retro vibe that makes me happy. They always let us check in no matter how late I always am. You usually have to call to book but they're always so nice.
The decor is also cheesy but in the best way. The neon sign is so cute it's one of our favorite things.
If you order the honey moon suite be aware you might end up in the other room that is not featured in the photos. It just doesn't have the mural. Still good room for the price. The beach is right there. Enjoy the cats in the back parking lot of the space next door they are so sweet

Pros :
- proximity to the beach, hands down only perk of this motel. Pool is small but very nice.
- Price. However should be cheaper considering the owners are NOT providing a clean and decent stay.
- Lead housekeeper is very kind, attentive and professional. I feel bad the hotel management has left her to be the sole point of contact for guests. The problems below are NOT her doing :

Cons :
- dirty! This motel is the exact reason I travel with Lysol spray and Clorox wipes. You should too if you stay here, plus get a shot of penicillin. Every touch surface has greasy finger prints and furniture/millwork is equally dirty, but clearly can’t be cleaned as it’s falling apart. Kids’ socks filthy as soon as they walked on the floors.
- HUGE cockroaches. Three made their appearance in < 8 hours. We were offered to change rooms in the morning but with cockroaches this large that clearly know their way around the place I assume any other room just has their younger cousins waiting the walls. A hint for Housekeeping & Pest control - the brown speckles on all the wall switches and plate covers and inside drawers isn’t dust, it’s cockroach feces and egg casings. You have a serious problem. Offering to spray after we leave doesn’t fix the problem for us.- the photos of the rooms on the website do not match. It’s seriously shabby. I love a retro original bathroom as much as the next guest but it’s not “retro”, it’s refusing to invest in a building that’s falling apart.- “kitchenette” is stocked with some thrift store knives and plastic plates. No cups, mugs or metal cutlery. Bring your own disposable tableware. Grease buildup on the walls and vent is dangerous.- toaster caught fire immediately upon use. CLEAN THE CRUMB TRAYS FOLKS! And ZERO response from the motel staff despite setting off the smoke alarms and putting a flaming toaster in the parking lot before 9am. Lucky I was paying attention, unless a 5-alarm fire is what the owners are betting on to walk away from this place?- Bathroom sink completely clogged. If the bathroom had been cleaned properly before guests checking in this would have been noticed and addressed before check in.- cafe that previous guests raved about it closed indefinitelyEdit - housekeeping tried to unclog the sink and damaged something, leaving the bathroom unusable. They required us to change rooms. I was traveling alone with my 3 small children and had to repack and move all our items in the middle of our day with no assistance. No visible roaches in the next room but the room was even dirtier than the first. The kids unfolded the sofa bed to find dirty, hairy sheets. The kitchen was more poorly stocked. Fridge was off and hot due to a blown GFI outlet. Windows painted shut. Huge gobs of dust hanging from ceiling fans. Dresser drawers stuck closed. So much sand in the card readers scraping off the magnetic strips on the keys cards that we needed new cards twice a day.

It was wonderful to be walking distance to beach. They have breakfast now. Last year They didn't. The room was clean with plenty of towels. It had a small efficiency type kitchen. Fridge, microwave and sink. Also counter with coffee pot and all trimmings. Pricing was great compared to being on beach in other places.
If you want a good deal you have to go during the week. The weekend rate is about $100 higher.

Venice A

Das Hotel hat mich sehr überrascht, denn es ist nicht so überfüllt, stattdessen sehr familiär. Alle Angestellten sind super freundlich und auch das Essen sehr lecker. Man kann einfach nur entspannen oder auch das Programm des netten Animationsteams verfolgen, die einen immer ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern. Am Abend gibt es schöne Shows und auch die Zimmer erfüllen ihren Zweck. Die Anlage ist auch sehr schön, außerdem wird sich immer um alles direkt gekümmert. Als junge Frau kann jedoch die starke Aufmerksamkeit der arabischen Männern oft störend sein.

This little gem was such a fun stay for my husband and I. We had a suite room with a partial ocean view and balcony. The motel was just steps to Vilano Beach. The room was very clean, artsy, and retro fun. We could hit Publix and many restaurant options in the area. The staff was friendly and welcoming too. We can’t wait to visit again. We fell in love with St. Augustine! ♥️♥️♥️?️⚓️
